The MARY L. BORRA Excellence Award

Prologue

The Rhode Island Foreign Language Association hereby establishes the annual MARY L. BORRA Excellence Award, to be presented to that member in good standing of the Association who has undertaken and successfully completed a creative project which shall be judged beneficial to both students and teachers and helpful to the foreign language profession as a whole.

Award

The recipient shall be presented with a plaque and an award of $500 at the Spring Meeting of the Association.  If more than one project is judged worthy the award shall be shared equally.

Project Eligibility

The term “project” is used to indicate any activity on the part of students and instructor(s) whose intent may include, but is not restricted to, the enhancement of learning, the extension of contact beyond the classroom, the deepening of cultural and inter-cultural understanding, and the promotion of the value of foreign language study.  Evidence of shared planning and execution of the project by both students and instructor(s) is essential.  Equally essential is the feasibility of the implementation of the submitted project in a variety of school environments.  No project for which formal monetary funding has been provided shall be eligible.
